hosts a fundraising event for: Railroad Partners, Inc on October 18, 2008 |
![]() A long line of motorcars and hy-rail equipment make their way along trackage of the Blacklands Railroad on Saturday, October 18, 2008. |
Railroad Partners, Inc. would like to thank the Blacklands Railroad for hosting a NARCOA insured motorcar trip on their railroad on a recent weekend as a fundraising event for RPI. Seventeen pieces of equipment attended the event which traveled some 110 miles round trip between Greenville, TX and Mt. Vernon, TX. Our lunch break and turn around point was Mt. Vernon. Thanks to a bit of advanced publicity in the local paper, we were greeted by members of the Franklin County Historical Society, the Mayor of Mt. Vernon and many local citizens interested to see the railroad equipment visiting their town.
RPI appreciates the historical society opening up their depot and museum facilities for our use and enjoyment while visiting Mt. Vernon. We are looking forward to future runs on the Blacklands Railroad and additional visits to Mt. Vernon, which is an excellent lunch break and turn around point for our group.
Detailed photographs of the day's activities may be viewed at this link. For any participants in the motorcar run with digital photographs they would like to share, I'll be glad to add them to these presented here. Just e-mail your photos to: malonemg@geusnet.com
